Mixed Media with Heidi Swapp and Close To My Heart

Go to Scrapbook.com now and look at all the free classes!  I'll wait...

Now that you have enrolled in no less than 3 free classes, take a look at this one by Heidi Swap called Tips and Tricks.  I picked up a few items on her list, but not everything because I wanted to use my imagination and see what I could use from around me.

One item I did invest in Gold Modeling Paste.  Cutting flowers from the Flower Market Cartridge, I placed them on top of an old Hip Pics album (discontinued, but you can use the My Creations Kraft Mini Book) and scooped up some Gold Modeling Paste to make 3-d flowers.  (This is where the Heidi Swapp class comes in handy)
Next, I used Lagoon re-inker along with Sweet Leaf re-inker and added them to a bit of white acrylic paint.  Using a sponge brush, I mixed the colors with the paint and added color to the cover.
Once I had the colors I liked, I added some stamping with Black Archival Ink using the stamp set Beautiful Moments (A1200).

You can see, once I got all the painting done and dry, I added a few things:
Just so you know, Close to My Heart Glitter paper is amazing for cutting with a Cricut.  Never had any issues and looks amazing!
Rustic Home Ribbon, one of my favorite ribbon packs!
And Baby Girl Complements, which has tons of cute gold embellishments.

Stay tuned for more on this album and keep your paper flowers used with the modeling paste, you will need them!

March Stamping Stax Cards with Tri-fold Shutter Card

Cards and stamping are one of the first paper crafts I delved into.  After playing around with paper, stamps and embellishments for a while, I found Interactive Cards.  You know, cards that do more that just open, they entertain.

Every month, I create cards for my Stamping Stax Club.  I try to have one interactive card so they can wow themselves when they see how easy and fun it is to make!

To make my life easier, I purchase some of my card cuts from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons, just as I did for this one (click here for file). They are easy to purchase and even easier to upload into my Cricut Explore Air.

The flower paper used for this card is Dreamin' Big.

Then for the last two cards, I try to make them fun and simpler.  I had to use this month Stamp of the Month, Tea-riffic.
Also my absolutely favorite ribbon, Rustic Home Ribbon.

Everything you need for these cards have links or are listed below:

Take a wander over to www.mojomonday.blogspot.com to see the Card Challenge I entered!

Starting January 1, 2017, Close To My Heart introduced four new themed paper packs.  Each one with 10 double sided pages and two pages with cut-to-use cards.  This week I want to focus on Sugar Rush, because I think I need to run out to Dunkin Donuts....

Okay, I'm back.  That cruller was awesome!
So back to Sugar Rush and the above card.  This was motivated by Mojo Monday and made me think out of the box!
Products used are the following:

So go out, have that chocolate frosted donut and enjoy Mojo Monday!!

July Stamping Stax Card Workshop with Watercolors

By far my favorite technique for cards and scrapbooks is our Watercolors and amazing brushes.  The brushes themselves are worth the 8.95 for a set of five soft, well made brushes.

With our new A Bunch of Love Stamp set and matching thin dies , I created three cards for my attendees to create together.

The Florence paper pack and rose gold foil tape was used on each card.

Just a little water on the palate to give each flower a bright color.

A wash of Goldrush for the background.

The diffuser was used to emboss the butterflies, but leave space for stamping and signing the card.

Hope you like this month's cards and shop at www.kristinholm.ctmh.com and see all the new items!

Stamping Stax Cards for June Scream Flamingos!

Using the Tickled Pink Stamp set and thin cuts, I was able to create the first two Flamingo cards.  How fun are these little guys?

The middle bendy card I cut the base using a Cricut templete.  I tried hard to make this card with my cutter and score pal, but alas, Cricut saved my ass!

If you are local, join us at one of the three events listed here on http://www.meetup.com/Streamwood-Scrapbooking-Meetup/events/230693913/.
If you are not local and would like more information on how to create these buggers, email me at holm_kristin@Hotmail.com!

See you soon and Happy crafting!
